Green Tangerine Peel Strips (Citrus reticulata), known in Traditional Chinese Medicine as Qing Pi (青皮), are the dried unripe peels of the tangerine fruit, cut into narrow strips to preserve their aromatic oils and active compounds. These peels are highly valued for their ability to regulate liver qi, break up stagnation, and support digestive function.

Qing Pi is stronger and more dispersing than its mature counterpart, Chen Pi. It is commonly used to soothe the liver, relieve emotional constraint, and address conditions caused by qi stagnation, such as chest tightness, breast tenderness, irritability, and indigestion. It also plays a role in reducing food accumulation, easing bloating, and supporting healthy metabolism, especially when stagnation affects the spleen and stomach.

The green peel is particularly beneficial in formulas for stress-related digestive discomfort, menstrual irregularities linked to liver qi stagnation, or distention and discomfort in the upper abdomen. Its sharp, bitter nature helps to move stagnant energy and disperse clumps or masses.

When simmered in decoction, Green Tangerine Peel Strips produce a pungent, slightly bitter infusion with a strong citrus aroma. It is often paired with herbs like Xiang Fu, Chai Hu, or Zhi Ke in liver-regulating and digestive blends.

Each batch of Green Tangerine Peel Strips (Citrus reticulata) is carefully dried and cut to preserve its volatile oils and therapeutic strength. Whether used in qi-regulating formulas, digestive teas, or liver-soothing decoctions, Qing Pi offers a bold, effective tool for restoring smooth energy flow and digestive harmony.
