Euphorbia Root Whole (Euphorbia fischeriana), known in Traditional Chinese Medicine as Lang Du (狼毒), is a strong, acrid, and toxic root traditionally used to eliminate toxins, disperse nodules, and destroy parasites, particularly in cases involving severe skin conditions, abscesses, or external ulcers. Though part of the euphorbia family, Lang Du is distinct from its cousin Gan Sui and is typically applied with extreme care due to its potency.
Lang Du is primarily used externally in traditional applications for skin infections, chronic sores, scabies, or fungal conditions, especially where there is hardness, swelling, or pus. It helps to break down accumulations and clear heat-toxin from the surface. Internally, it has been used in very small, controlled amounts to dissolve phlegm masses, reduce swelling, or eliminate intestinal parasites, though internal use is uncommon and always supervised.
This herb is extremely warming and drying, and its toxic nature makes it suitable only for short-term or topical use when other gentler herbs are insufficient. It is sometimes included in specialized pastes or washes where there is stubborn pathogenic accumulation that resists resolution.
Each batch of Euphorbia Root Whole (Euphorbia fischeriana) is carefully harvested and dried to preserve its herbal strength and traditional energetic qualities. Due to its toxicity, Lang Du is not for general use and must be handled according to traditional protocols.
Warning: This herb is classified as toxic in Chinese medicine and should only be used under the guidance of a qualified practitioner. It is not recommended for internal use without professional supervision and is contraindicated during pregnancy or in weak constitutions.
